Maria Walsh MEP

Maria Walsh was born in Boston, USA, but Co. Mayo has been home for her since 1994. In 2014 she was crowned the International Rose of Tralee. Maria was elected as Member of the European Parliament in 2019.

Maria is Co-Chair of the MEP Alliance for Mental Health and a member of the Coalition for Mental Health and Wellbeing.

Maria Walsh MEP was born in Boston, USA, but the village of Shrule, Co. Mayo has been home for her since 1994. She graduated from Griffith College Dublin with a B.A. in Journalism and Visual Media in 2009 and went on to a career in television production and creative management. In 2014 she was crowned the International Rose of Tralee having entered as the Philadelphia Rose, where she was living at the time. Maria was formerly a member of the Irish Army Reserves for around two years, resigning due to her legal obligations as an MEP.

Maria was elected as a Member of the European Parliament for the Midlands-North-West constituency at the 2019 European Parliament elections. She is a member of Fine Gael and sits in the European Peoples Party political group in the European Parliament. Maria is a full member of the Committee on Employment and Social Affairs and a substitute member of both the Committee on Civil Liberties, Justice and Home Affairs and the Fisheries Committee.

Maria is passionate about mental health, and within the Parliament is Co-Chair of the MEP Alliance for Mental Health and is a member of the Coalition for Mental Health and Wellbeing.
